News: 3DS gets massive price cut in all regions on August 12

Nintendo have revealed that on August 12th the 3DS is to receive a rather hefty price cut. Wishing to address sluggish sales, Nintendo hopes that a cut in price in all major regions: Europe, North America, Australia and Japan will help to stimulate sales in said regions. Japan will be seeing a cut from 25,000 yen to 15,000 yen whilst North America will be seeing the console now retail for $169.99. Australians can expect the console to be available for AU$250.

As of yet the the European price hasn't been announced but in a statement this morning Nintendo said "Nintendo of Europe will be reducing the European trade price of Nintendo 3DS to retailers by around a third from 12th August 2011, as part of a global trade price reduction initiative. The ultimate price to consumers is, of course, determined by retailers, however we look forward to consumers benefiting from much lower retail prices very soon." Hopefully European retailers will match the impressive drop demonstrated by the other regions.
