News: GoldenEye 007 Coming to Xbox 360, PS3

Activision has announced that last year's Wii title, Goldeneye 007, will be coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3 this autumn. Titled Goldeneye 007 Reloaded, the game will be a HD remake that is said to include improved AI and added standalone challenge missions. The remake will also feature a greater focus on online play with 10 maps that allow up to 16 players.
This places us in a truly unusual situation where a game released on the weakest of the current generation consoles and that was dubbed a reimagining of a game from 14 years ago that itself was based on a film from 16 years ago, is being remade on the two more powerful consoles. And going head-to-head with Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3.

For what it's worth Goldeneye 007 was reasonably well-received on the Wii with a metacritic score of 81. Although the Wii game has shifted a respectable 1.2 million units, it has done so in the notably uncrowded Wii market so it will be interesting to see how it performs sales-wise on the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Those interested in checking out the Wii game can pick it up for a bargain £9.95 from Shopto.net.
