News: Windows 8 to feature Xbox 360 game functionality?

Insideris sources claim that the latest iteration of Microsoft's Windows operating system, Windows 8, will feature the ability to play Xbox 360 games. Apparently this feature will be available via a subscription but will not, in the first instance at least, facilitate cross PC-Console play.

Although unconfirmed at this point, this would be the logical progression of Microsoft's gradual assimilation of its PC gaming platform into its Xbox division. Microsoft recently announced that it would be merging its Games for Windows service with Xbox.com fully enshrining the existing cross-platform functionality.

With the rumoured reveal of the next Xbox, such a move would presumably give Microsoft a chance to extend its revenue stream at the tail-end of the 360's life-span.
