Significantly, there is a version also being developed for the Wii U. Although there's a distinct feel of Twilight Princess-itis about this, Square Enix have detailed that the game will be playable cross-platform and feature improved graphics.
It also appears that unlike Dragon Quest VII and IX, this is being developed specifically by Square Enix's teams as opposed to the House of Layton, Level 5.
The trailer below shows a graphical style not a million miles removed from the previous few Dragon Quest titles.
No release date has been confirmed for DQX as of yet, although creator Yuji Horii gave an always reassuring "Maybe it will be out in 2012." Great, 2014 that is then.
